Sealite SL125-4 Lights Up Dutch Island Lighthouse, Rhode Island, USA
Built in 1857, the Dutch Island Lighthouse sits in the western passage of Narragansett Bay, Rhode Island, USA, and for the past two decades has remained unlit.
Recent restoration activities have since brought the lighthouse back to it’s former glory, with the installation of Sealite’s SL125-4 red lantern enabling clear marking of the island to local mariners and vessel operators.
The restoration project was undertaken by the Dutch Lighthouse Society, with local fund raising and a grant of $120,000 from the Rhode Island Department of Transport enabling this project to be undertaken.
The Sealite SL125-4 red lantern was installed in the lantern room at the top of the lighthouse, and is one of many such collaborative projects undertaken by Sealite over the years. Flexibility and project customisation are just a few of the many benefits Sealite can provide to customers to enable every project requirement to be met.
Locals celebrated the unveiling of the restored lighthouse from the Saunderstown shore.
