Sealite Launch Re-Designed SL48 & SL96 LED Leading Lights

Sealite has made enhancements to the SL48 and SL96 leading light models to further improve the units’ ability to withstand the harsh marine environment.

The SL48 and SL96 leading lights have been designed to offer vessels clear night navigation and are a convenient replacement for conventional lead lighting. The SL48 model is 2ft in length with a visible range of 7.5-13+nm, while the SL96 model is 4ft in length and boasts a range of 8-14.5+nm and can be used for applications requiring greater visibility than the smaller SL48 model.

New Housing for Improved Sealing
Sealite has developed its own robust anodised aluminium housing for the leading lights. The housing is anodised to meet AS1956. The anodising process increases corrosion and wear resistance, and provides better adhesion for glues than bare metals allowing for a more robust product with stronger sealing properties.
End caps have also been added to these models to improve the sealing of the unit to prevent any water intrusion.

New Lens Design
Sealite has created a unique lens improving on the previous models. In place of one lens running the complete length of the housing, the new lens has been reduced in size to 300mm with multiple segments being positioned along the length of the housing. Using smaller, multiple lenses gives Sealite improved sealing control, maximising the unit’s waterproofing qualities.

IP68 Waterproof Rating
The new housing and lens design has increased the waterproof rating of the SL48 and SL96 models from IP66 to IP68. An IP Rating is an international numerical standard used to classify the degree of protection provided against the intrusion of solid objects, such as dust, and water in electrical enclosures. IP68 is the highest dust and waterproof rating for lanterns required for use in the marine industry.

New Variable Mounting Design
The mounting design of the SL48 and SL96 has been modified to allow more flexibility during installation. Instead of fixed mounting points, the new model has a multi-mount design allowing the installer to mount the light anywhere along the length of the unit. Channels running along the base of the housing allow the mounting brackets to be positioned as required.
